In the United States, owners of Mercedes-Benz electric cars have the option to enhance their vehicle's performance by acquiring an extra 60 horsepower for a monthly fee of $60. Alternatively, for certain models, an additional 80 horsepower can be obtained for $90 per month. These power upgrades can be conveniently accessed through over-the-air software patches, which can be obtained through monthly or yearly subscriptions. Additionally, customers have the choice of a one-time flat fee payment for the upgrade.

To make these software enhancements accessible, Mercedes-Benz provides an online store called Mercedes Me, exclusively available for US customers. It's important to note that this subscription service is restricted to the US due to legal limitations in other countries that prohibit modifications to a vehicle's powertrain after purchase.

Alongside the power enhancements, subscribers also gain access to a range of other features through the subscription. These features include navigation, remote start, theft and damage notifications, as well as a "valet mode" that temporarily reduces peak horsepower and restricts access to private data screens.

As for future Mercedes electric vehicles, it remains uncertain whether the vehicles will require users to watch a 30-second advertisement before starting.
